I've put in some paper shims. they helped some. I have to shim the back. the front is already tight and any shims bind up the cartridge. I'm also having the occasional jam (38's and 357's) where the cartridge nose is in the top of the chamber, and the case head is at the bottom of the bolt. I guess my spring is a little too light.

Joseph, you might try shooting offhand a couple times, just to shake things up a bit. let somebody else try too. but you really should be hitting in different spots if you've tried with the sight all the way up and all the way down. Lastly, it could be you've got a bad barrel. MY uncle had a brand new henry with a bent barrel. he couldn't get it on paper at 30 feet. henry fixed it for him, but I think bad barrel is a last option

well, I got the stevesgunz DVD in the mail yesterday.

While the info may be great, the production was so poorly done that I couldn't get through it. Out of focus, wobbly, lots of zooming in/out and losing focus. Again, the info presented was/is probably first rate, but I honestly got a headache watching it. Think YouTube quality, done in the basement of your friend's house with the hand held camcorder.

I didn't see anything specific to .38 Specials, but he does a very complete segment on action work in general with specific instructions on where to polish/grind and what the new profile of each piece should look like when you're done. He illustrates this by (literally) drawing a picture with pencil and lined notebook paper on camera. Then follows up with a segment in the shop showing the machine work on each piece.

Okay, that being said, the parts I received are well made. The safety plug went in in about 30 seconds and the metal magazine follower is well made.

I need to drift out the front sight and install the brass bead replacement I ordered, but it too looks well made.
