I’ve seen 2 answers to the question: What is the twist rate of the Ruger #1 chambered in 222 Remington?

1:9 and 1:14
Which is it?

I tried pushing a cleaning rod into the bore using both a mop and brush to measure the length for a complete rotation BUT the apparently freely spinning rod never spun?

Take a cleaning rod and a patch and run it partly into the barrel. Make a mark on the rod at the muzzle. At the handle, put a piece of masking tape wrapped to make a flag. Push the rod in while watching the flag. When the flag has made one revolution, make a mark on the cleaning rod at the muzzle. Remove the rod, and measure the distance between the two marks - you now have your twist rate. Easier in person than typing.....

I LOVE Ruger #1!!! I have a 7mmSTW stainless on laminated wood. It’s also marked BuckMaster Conservation
