I'd appreciate your input on this:

I like my .22's (cz and hi standard).Last Ruger I owned was a single six (1960's). I wish I had a better feel for prices (new car in the 60's was $5K:) )
How's the price?

Is this Mk II with Adco Red Dot better at $470?

Thanks

Around here brand new MkIII Hunters or Slabsides run about $385 at gun shows. I think the expensive red dots on these are overkill as the cheap ones ($20-$70) from www.cdnn.com work very well indeed on a .22. But if you want a Brand Name optic and are willing to pay a premium for the now discontinued MkII models these could be decent prices in your area.

I picked up a 22/45 MKIII Hunter for $320 at a gun show a few weeks ago. Love the "TruGlo" fiber optic sight on it. I won't be putting an optic on it. I've plenty of MkII and 22//45 mags, didn't want to have to buy a bunch of new mags for the MkIII so I ruled it out. (I know I can just buy the MkII baseplates and turn some 22/45 mags into MkIII mags, but then I'd be short some 22/45 mags).

Furncliff,

A brand new Mark III Hunter goes for $400 around here and a lightly used Mark II target should set you back around $300

The Nikon sight is about $200 and the Adco runs about $100 - both new.

Both combinations are at least $50-75 overpriced, IMHO. Regardless, a Ruger with a red dot sight is a blast. I have a MkII with a 5-1/2 slabside barrel and an Ultradot that is a kick in the pants. Here's a picture:

Just FYI, I had chronic stovepipes with this pistol right out of the box. Sent it back to Ruger after about 1000 rounds, and it came back perfect. Nary a problem since. Ruger paid shipping both ways. They treat their customers well.
