Several days ago I was at the range and a fellow shooting at the next table remarked that he saw smoke come from his magazine on the last shot. I asked to see the casing and when I looked closely I could see his primer was pierced clean through. He was using factory ammo. He fired about ten more with no problem and then it happened again. I advised him not to shoot any more of that ammo and he had no more problems. I believe the ammo was Armscore. Any idea why this occurred? Also, could this be dangerous or damage the rifle? I'm always trying to learn.

Some primers (i.e. Federal) are softer than others, Armscor might be using soft primers. Repeated high temp and pressure gas from leaking primers will erode the breech face and firing pin channel. I would inspect the firing pin to make sure the tip isn't cracked/sharp. If everything there looks good, I would switch ammo brands, and keep an eye on the new primers for a box or two.
