I was thinking today about how cool the Ruger 99/44 is. I want to buy one, but the only problem is that the mags are limited to only 4 rounds and I believe that people want a little more firepower in this neat gun. I was thinking about how to make a larger capacity mag for it. I was having problems until I hit an idea. Why not make an adapter to fit the large 99/44 mag well and allow it to feed from 44 Desert Eagle magazines. There are plenty of 44 DE mags and would double the firepower of this nice carbine. Best of all, one could still use the original mags for hunting where mag size is restricted. Is this a good idea or am I crazy? Is there anyone who could make such a thing?

I've been going over this in my mind and I don't think it would be cheap or easy. The Ruger uses a rotary magazine so you can't just hack the bottom off of it and affix the DE mag. It seems to me the only way to do it would be to use injection-molding plastics and rebuild the entire top-end onto the DE mag to Ruger specs. I don't think you'll find any companies willing to do this as I doubt they'd make back their production costs.

And yes, it would be very cool.

.44 mag lever gun? Get your capacity and keep it light and handy. Aperture sights are available. Rugged and reliable. Not as cool in some ways, though. I think that considering the work you'd have to go through to try and make a proprietary high cap mag for the ruger, the lever gun is an efficient alternative.

Still, semi-auto .44 with decent capacity would be a good time, and a good defensive rifle...

Yea, but Buttler Creek makes 25 round 10/22 mags, it can't be that hard to do the same thing for the 99/44. Just make an outline copy of the magazine out of aluminum and then attach a latch for the DE mag. It should feed just fine.
