Not bad for the first time out. Need to try different brands of ammo to see what your Ruger likes the best. I get great results with Wolf Match Target and CCI MiniMags.

I see the target notation reads "75 yards"..... That's nice!. I was in the market for an easily scoped bolt action .22 rimfire and the Ruger American was on my "short list" due to a couple of them I've seen that impressed me. I probably would have gotten one if I hadn't come across a new CZ-455 Thumbhole Laminated Varmint in 22LR that was discontinued last year, but the distributors still had some in stock. It was also on my "short list" and I got a good deal on it although it still cost more than the Ruger. If the dealer wanted full MSRP for it I was gonna go for the Ruger but he was willing to deal enough to sway me. Recently finished putting the rings and scope on and will head for the range with several different brands of ammo this coming week. Hope to see some groups like yours!

I've really enjoyed shooting the Ruger American Rimfire with my daughters. I actually find that Federal Auto Match stuff works pretty well. I use a cheap Bushnell 4x I picked up at Walmart for under $30 and it has worked out well so far. We'll see how long the scope maintains zero.

With the right ammo you will see much better groups than that.

I have a Ruger American 22lr as well. It shoots very accurate with Mini Mags, especially the 40gr. However, because its a bolt gun, you don't need high velocity rounds. You will see more accuracy from standard velocity CCI, Wolf 40gr match target, etc... FYI - You might think that because that ammo is called federal Auto Match, it might be more accuracy. However, it has never shot small groupings in my Ruger 10/22 w/ target barrel, Ruger 10/22 take-down w/ bull barrel, or my Ruger American.

I bought one of the .22WMR Predator models, ended up liking it so well I bought a .22LR. Great shooting and handling little rifles. Nickname of the .22 mag is "squirrel laser".
