A recent thread indicated a new Ruger .380, the LC .380 based on the LC9 frame. What happened to the old LCP? I have one and I love it!

Me too, it is always in my pocket. That is why I like it, i is small enough that I always have it. I will say I haven't hit a running coyote with it yet, but I have come close!

The LCP is still in production. It has gained a reputation as a snappy little beast, as has the LC9; the LC380 is several ounces heavier than the LCP and fires a weaker cartridge than the LC9, so presumably it won't be quite so unpleasant to shoot as the other two. The LC380 also holds one round more than the LCP.

The LCP and LC 380 are two different size guns.

Much of the time I pocket carry the LCP because my LC9 is too large for my pocket carry.

IMO if you are going to use a LC380, you may as well use the 9mm instead.

I've noticed that LCPs are commanding high prices in this current hysteria. They're a popular gun, and I know that Ruger is still making them.

I'm a died-in-the-wool revolver guy, but my little LCP gets a LOT of carry time.

My thoughts exactly. My brother's LC9 is not a beast to handle at all. Not quite as soft-shooting as my Kahr CM9, but still quite manageable.

I really don't understand why so much bewilderment has been expressed over the LC380. I mean, really, it is just another option for people. 17-21 ounce .380s have been popular sellers for years. Ruger is merely offering another option to the marketplace. It is a simple matter to buy whichever fits one's particular needs and preferences and ignore any that does not.

There have been many threads extolling the virtues of the Bersa Thunder 380CC which is, oddly enough, a 17 ounce .380 acp like...the LC380.

I recently won a LCP in a raffle at a gun store recently, while there to pick it up I also looked at the LC380 and noticed that it has the same problem (to me) magazine disconnect. But yeah it is essentially just like the lc9

I love my LCP. I added the Hogue Hybrid grip and all the snappiness that I disliked when I picked it up a few months ago is gone now. I also added one of the new factory 7 round mags, so now I carry 7+1 around in my pocket whenever I leave the house.

If the magazine disconnect bothers you... take it out. I did on both my LC9s. Its a 5 minute job.

Or just keep the LCP i won in a raffle and add in some magguts to give me the same capacity in a smaller gun. With out the mag disconnect.

My LCP is fine. "Better than a knife" is how I would describe it. You're not going to plink at 25 yards with it or anything. It does it's designed job well.
