Just got the new Ruger LCR-22 from my LGS yesterday for a very good price- $400 otd. Thought I'd give my initial impressions of the little "fellow". What's not to love about a 15 oz. (loaded) 8 shot, double action .22 LR snubby with a good trigger?
Fired 118 rounds of about 8 different types of ammo. Best groups from 7 yrds. were about 2 inches with both Win. Super X (1300 fps) & Rem. Target. The rest of the ammo types- Fed. Lightning, Fed. bulk, Aguila Target, CCI Subsonic & CCI Minimag were Okay (the CCI Minimag locked up the cyclinder for no apparent reason however). There were no problems other than the one mentioned with CCI Minimag. The trigger was good enough that very quick emptying of the 8 shot cyclinder was easy to achieve.
What is the purpose of this weapon you may well ask? I normally carry a Kahr CW40, but in hot weather I may well carry the little Ruger and not even know it's there! In any case it's a nice "toy" and fun at the range. If you have the LCR .38 or .357 (I don't currently), the .22 would make a nice practice substitute. WB
