Just got an email from Ruger that the Match Champion now has an adjustable rear sight. Starting to look more and more like the old Security Six. Might have to check this one out.

It has definitely moved to the top of my want list, it has been on there since it came out but this has bumped it up a notch.

I got the email also. The sights was the first thing I noticed.

I already bought a GP100 4" blued instead of the match champion because of the novac sights and the deep dovetail they cut into the top strap.

Now I wish I would have waited for this model.

I may have to trade my GP100 in on one now that they went back to their old format on the sights, but I'm not sure how the match champion would shoot any better than this GP100 that I have now. It shoots extremely well.

I'm thinking about putting fiber optic sights and the match champion grip on mine and calling it a day.

I certainly don't need both.

I do believe they are adding the adj sight version, not replacing the Novak sight version. I, for one, like the Novak version, but glad the choice of either is offered. The more options, the better. :)

Making the words "Match Champion" that on the side of the barrel much smaller, as in so small you have to look really hard to see them, would be a great de-uglification move.

If they're too proud to shrink their proclamation of match champion-ness, I'd be satisfied if they just moved it to the bottom of the butt, or the inside of the grip-frame. :D

Until they soften the edges on the whole gun, I think a slab side barrel is really out of place. At least a gun named Match Champion now has match grade sights. Exactly for what "match" is this gun suited? Who has a 4" match gun. Does anyone in IDPA use it? It seems so pretentious.

I would buy it just to get the match grade barrel. I don't think it's looks any worse than the GP 110 standard grade.
I am a vintage S&W person all day long but I did buy a GP100 4" blued, like I said in my earlier post, I have to admit they grow on you. I have a lot of respect for my GP100 and the utilitarian look of it became a secondary concern after I realized how good of a revolver it really is.

I needed a revolver that I could shoot the crap out of and didn't have to worry about wearing out my vintage Smiths.

If the Match Champion came in a blued revolver I would have one in a heart beat.

I would buy it just to get the match grade barrel.

I haven't found any reference to a match grade barrel feature. I do think "match tuned" is probably worth something, but that would be the action. What I don't see in the pictures is a nice, polished finish. The nonreflective finish that makes sense on a match gun is not my idea of a beautiful gun. I have two nickel-plated Smiths with a grained finished on the top strap that serves the sighting purpose well enough.
