Ok another mag question:
does anyone make extended capacity magazines for ruger mK IIs?
extended as in anything over the normal 10

I'm afraid 10 rounds is it. Any more than that and the magazine needs to curve to accomodate them. Also, it'd stick way out the bottom of the grip since the magazines can only be single stack. I'm thinking I may have heard of 12 round mags way back, but I haven't seen anything like them so, maybe not.

I think it's possible to cut the followers a little bit to accomidate 12 rounds. I'm not sure about that and I've never known anybody who has tried.

I don't remember who the manufaturer was off the top of my head, but I have TWO styles of hi-caps for my MKII.

Both were made by the same company, one has a stainless steel body, the other is a plastic body. Been a while since I played with them, but I believe the plastic holds 12 and the SS holds 14, or vice versa.

The way this was accomplished was with a magazine spring that resembles a measuring tape, all rolled up. As it unrolls, it forces the follower up. Strange idea, but they work PERFECTLY! Outside dimensions are identical to a stock mag.

I have several of each, but considering where I am, even if I were to sell the MKII these would stay with me. It would be nice of these were re-introduced for those in Free America.

Ramline had 12 and 14 round magazines for the MKII
using a clock spring inside a plastic follower in a plastic
body about the same dimensions as a std 10 rd mag.

My son and I wore out the 14 rounder; I leave the 12
roiunder in my shooting bag as a JIC.

The factory mags will operate the bolt-hold-open much
more reliably than the after market mags, and ten rounds
make a standard target string. The larger capacity mags
are fun when plinking, but they are not bet-your-life
reliable.
