Anybody know of a company that is currently making anything other than hardwood stocks for Ruger No. 1 rifles? I’ve got my mind made up on putting together an all-weather No. 1, but composite stocks seem to be pretty rare for these rifles. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

it won't be cheap, but these guys will make you one. http://www.oregunsmithingllc.com/Pendleton-Composite-Stocks.html

Personally, I did not have a good experience with richards microfit. Be prepared to invest hours and hours and hours in a stock. It will be as good as your skill are. 95% inlet may mean more like 60% inlet. vaguely stock shaped. (but the one I did was for an oddball gun)

You'd not really gain much with a synthetic on that rifle, or any rifle with a 2 piece stock. You can see quite a bit of improvement on a bolt action, but very little if any with 2 piece stocks.

Not really looking for improvement, as much as utility. I want a knock around No. 1 with no regard to damaging a nice stock.

I had one with a Bell and Carlson stock on it. It looks like they have quit making them though. I took it off and put wood back on it. Wound up selling the rifle and both stock sets went with it.
