Some old adages...
"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder."
"Pretty is as pretty does."
The main thing that keeps me away from Ruger centerfire autos is the creepy trigger. as you squeeze, it's eek....eek...eek..............bang. Glock triggers are gooey, but they're also smooth and consistent.
My P90 has a lighter, smoother DA than either my current P85 or the P95 I traded some time back. The SA is crisper, too, no perceptible creep and let off at about 6 lbs which, to me, is not excessive in a service pistol. Both my 9x19 P guns have some gritty creep in the single action and are stiffer and not as smooth in DA mode.
In addition, my two 9x19s don't seem to transition from DA to SA as smoothly as does the P90. I'm not sure why, but the P90 really has a nice trigger. The frame is a little wider, maybe the dimensions are different on the action/sear? Anyway, I agree that my P85 isn't a stellar quality trigger, but the P90 is very nice and I much prefer it for carry or match use. Shot both a lot in IDPA. Only reason I tended toward the 9s is the tapered mag that seemed to reload a lot smoother without catching on the mag well so bad. If I have a criticism of the P90, it's that it looks to be rather hard to bevel that mag well. I've never asked a smith about it, though. Reloads with it have cost me some time in IDPA, though I was able to qualify expert finally, after much practice, with it.
I've won enough local shoots with that thing to pay for it three times over, the only firearm I have that's paid for itself.
I used to shoot with a gun club up the road that had money shoots. I made more money doing that than I ever did in flat track motorcycle racing. Hell, I usually just paid for gas and expenses if I was lucky with the flat tracker.
And, I got a lot more beat up doing that, too.
