Hi Guys. Just got back from a gunshop with one of my firends and he purchased a new Ruger P95 9mm. Got a good deal on it. $405 OTD cash. Not bad. Gun comes with (2) factory 10 round clips. Guy behind the counter stated even though the ban has been lifted Ruger is still shipping the 10 rounders for now. Where can he get the 16 rounders? From Ruger or another source? They had some used mag's there, for $25.00 but they looked beat up.

Advise.

BTW - I know this is the auto forum, I found a Ruger GP100 4" there SS for $515 OTD. I have to get clearance from the tower if you know what I mean!!!

First, your friend is dealing with a gun shop owner that is either a) an idiot or b) pulling a fast one.

I've bought a Ruger KP89D and P93 in the last three months -- and both came with 15-rd factory magazines. So if the shop owner claims he's getting his stuff from Ruger, then somebody is pulling a switch. There is probably old stock out there, but Ruger is definitely not shipping new guns with 10-rd mags. I also paid $320 each for my Rugers (NIB) -- so $405 seems pretty steep. It sounds like the dealer is making a pretty big profit!

You can get 17-rd MecGar mags for the P95 family (89/93/94/95) from www.arizonagunrunners.net for $20 each plus $9 S/H. I just bought 4 more last week (sold the 15-rd factory mags that came with my new guns to pay for them!).

Did your friend's gun come with a test casing? If so, have him take a look at the date on the envelope. If it's after the ban was lifted, I'd say he's been ripped off.

As far as the GP-100....I just bought a used (100 rds) GP-100 4" stainless for $320 delivered. You could never even tell this gun had been used...they're incredibly durable. Unless you have your heart set on a NIB gun, I'd look around and see what you can find used. There's even an NIB going on GunBroker right now for $365. I'd think seriously before I gave that dealer any money.... caveat emptor

Ruger has been shipping guns with 15 round mags for a few months now. They are still shipping some with 10 rounders for sale to restricted states.

I've got a good stock of factory Ruger 15 round mags. Two for $50 shipped.
