No expert here so I need to know if a MUZZLE BRAKE of this kind or any kind
needs to be level ???
This one from factory obviously isn't but have been shooting real tight & relentless
with factory ammo so far.
I have never owned muzzle brakes & never considered them until this one is factory
installed.
The pic shows how much off it is but I don't know if I want to mess with it.
I know lots of you have these & I have shot lots of them here on my range for other
people but shooting them & owning one is different.
Still learning & still willing to learn. MuzzleBrakeOffLevel.JPG

do too the twist of the bullet out the barrel the break doesn't have to be level all the time, i notice sometimes it actually benfits the accuracy if it slightly turned diffrent bullet lengths play into this factor Primary-Weapons-AK-47-FSC47-7.62x39-Muzzle-Break-e1539885232853-300x257.jpg
ak 47 uses a slant break

Manufacturers have a real problem getting barrels straight these days. Check out smith and Wesson front sights on their revolvers lol.

Might be dumb to ask, but I didn't see you mention it... assuming rifle is verified to be sitting level for the pic? Can't assume things are level with a bipod etc at all.

Function shouldn't be impeded on yours. Aesthetics though, that would probably annoy me. When the rifle fires I suppose it might change how it recoils a little or throw dust up more from the ground with the ports not being as horizontal as they should be.

Honestly I'd like to say mostly a cosmetic issue, but I'd want to be sure it's not loosening over time or something like that.

I used to cant mine about 10* or so toward strong side as most of my face and body are on weak side so I thought it would minimize how much dust I ate when prone.

If you’re a fit and finish guy then do what you gotta do

That type of brake isn’t offering any anti-rotational help. As @taliv mentioned, being canted in that direction might help keep some dust out of your face, but might not.

Personally, I’d pull it off and dress the end of the brake to gain that extra 10-15 degrees of turn to get it level, but that’s just me. It’s not much work and not much risk.

I would have to level it because of the annoyance factor. I spent most of my working life building things that had to be straight, square, and level and I couldn't stand to look at it like that for very long. It probably doesn't affect the rifles accuracy in the least though.

It is annoying, like I see it as soon as I look at the rifle I see that first, but it is shooting so good during the barrel
break in that I guess if I am going to do it I should have done it already.
Then again I hate seeing any signs of home made scars on a weapon, especially a new one & I bet that brake
it as tight as +++++.

Heat does wonders for things like that. Just don't use too much. Part of my work involved dismantling and assembling things that had a very tight fit. I still have the tools to do something like that but if you don't and don't want to pay a gunsmith I would just live with it.
