I put Houge's on my 101 also. For all the more they cost you can't beat them.
It made my magnum much more comfortable to shoot.

I liked the OEM grip just fine and shot well with it. Also, it was good for CCW.
However, I did not care for the Hogue.
I did end up putting on a Pachmayr Compact, which felt better in my hand, carried well, and shot great...

I've fired 125-180-grainers through the newer 4-inch full-lugged SP with the factory grips & had no problems in hanging on, it wasn't unpleasant at all.
Still....currently have Hogue wood on both it and the half-lugged four-incher, as well as the 4-inch .22.
Just more to hold onto, a far better fit in my hands, and they add a bit of control in the heavier magnum loads.
