I love my little SP101. It's the one snub nose I can shoot as well as a full size revolver. I carry it some OWB, but the trigger spring is getting a little squeaky without true return like my newer gp100 has. I don't know how old the Ruger is as I bought it used. I'll get a spring kit for it sooner or later. I found that I actually prefer pachmayr compact grips for carry and range use. Not much of fan of squishy grips.

The GP is a great tank of a blaster. Limit me to one do it all handgun that had to last me the rest of my days? It'd be the 4" GP100.

I've switched to a J frame for day to day carry as I need a more concealable EDC, but I would be happy to lug around the SP or GP if they were my only options.

I purchased a Gp100 3" that came with an iwb holster. If you ever plan to carry one you better mean it. They are large and heavy. The sp101 will work much better for double duty but I think both are displaced by Ruger's LCR models if you plan to spend much time carrying.

I carry either GP100 or SP101, both in 3", OWB and would never consider IWB for a cylinder as large as the GP100. I have also taken to wearing suspenders for any rig that has me hitching up my pants every time I move. Whatever works for the individual, but I think of IWB only for my semi-autos, my best rig being a Galco Supertuck and Kimber CDP II Compact. I haven't carried a semi in a few years now since getting heavily into revolvers.

My GP100 3" 38 Special converted to 41 Special should be ready soon. It will have a slab-sided barrel, rounded edges, and a compact grip with nice inserts so should be good for carry.

Carrying the SP101 is pretty easy but I bought too many holsters finding something that worked for me. One especially nice holster turns out to work only for the SP101 with open sights like my 357.

As a shooter of Ruger SP101, Ruger Security Six (2 3/4, 4 and 6 inch) and GP100 (4 and 6 inch), I can tell you that the greater weight of the larger guns absorbs recoil much better than the lighter SP101.
About two years ago I bought a Ruger .357 LCR. I loved the weight of the gun, but I never shot it because it was defective. Ruger couldn't replace it because they weren't producing it at the time and it would be more than a year before they could make good on the replacement (it couldn't be repaired). So they gave me an SP-101 with a 2.5-inch barrel. I had paid $300 for it because of cosmetic blemishes, so I didn't do too badly, though I had really wanted the LCR. I'm glad things turned out like they did because the LCR has really grown on me. My sister bought a .38 LCR and she really likes it.
