Just purchased a new ruger sr9c and the mags won't seat. The mags seat in my older sr9c, just not the new one. anyone else have this problem? The Ruger CS moron said to bang it in with palm of my hand. All mags have the finger grip base installed, and banging these with the palm of your hand will result in a lot of pain and bruising. Has Ruger quality and CS just gone to hell or what?

Won't seat fully loaded, unloaded, partially loaded?

You might try leaving the magazine fully loaded for a month or so and see if that helps.

Otherwise, I would say lock the slide open before loading a magazine.

src9 mag problem

The mags won't seat loaded or unloaded. Looks like the top of the mag base plate is hitting the bottom of the grip frame before the mag can latch. Grip frame appears to be about 1mm too long in front. I have another older sr9c and it works fine. The new and old mags seat fine in that one. I shipped it back to ruger and tracking shows that they received it and shipped it back out within hours. Doesn't sound good. Supposed to get it back on monday. I'm not optimistic.

If they're factory mags, contact RUGER. They should send you a new one for the defective one. If they're not factory mags (and I've not seen anyone offering them), contact the mag maker.

In the meantime, if you have a micrometer you can compare the new to old, and see where the mags differ in size.

ruger sr9c mag problem

Problem seems to be the length of the grip frame. The mags are fine. All of them seat in my older sr9c without a problem. The bottom of the grip frame seems to need to be relieved about 1mm in front. Since Ruger received and shipped the gun back out within a few hours, i doubt that they did anything. Should find out monday.

Very unlikely Ruger shipped that gun without work. They're too good at customer service.

I suspect it was a simple fix. You should expect your gun to work when you receive it.

Prolly did what I would have and just trimmed the grip frame a bit. Although they could prolly do it so that the result aren't noticed.

sr9c back from factory

Got my ruger sr9c back. mags seat fine now. work order states that mag catch was replaced GTG!
