i had this ruger for over 40 yrs, and have disassmbled it countless times...after cleaning it last nite, i spent about 2 hrs trying to get it assmbled correctly....it all goes back together but i can not get the bolt to slide back....it seems the problem is in the final stage of getting the hammer spur to align with the main spring as it is closed....not letting them connect to operate the bolt..

in the instructions it mentions once it is assembled (barrel and grip section) to take off the safety and pull the trigger to make sure the firing pin is forward...to me it seems nothing happens and the trigger has just a slight movement....

any suggestions?....i must have taken it apart last night over 25 times...

that problem is usually the hammer strut not being seated in the mainspring housing lever properly. Pull back the take down lever in the back of the housing back and properly locate the hammer strut so it is seated in the mainspring housing plunger socket correctly.

If you have a difficult time doing this, turn the pistol up side down (still with the takedown lever pulled back and out), pull the trigger to allow the hammer to move forward. This will give the hammer strut room to swing into its proper position.

Thanks Bearman for that link. I haven't dissembled my Ruger in years for fear of the nightmare I had the first time I took it apart.
