Ruger tricked me!

You know there is a warehouse that has a supply of Ex-GI 308's. It's easy to see why Ruger is conservative about fully developing anything before it hits the market place. Also, the demand may be more vocal elsewhere than in this forum. I see this with the Number One mainly. "I'd like to have a Number One in blah-blah. The rifle is on the edge of being discontinued. This is elsewhere. People here are serious. No offense intended-no sarcasm..

If I buy another I could go for a .45 PC carbine...or a 10mm if it can be done. The .40? Not so much.

It’s not that .40 is dead, it’s just a bit pricy to plink a lot with compared to a 9mm (which is why I bought the 9mm) and it doesn’t offer enough of a difference from the 9mm for me to justify a buying second one. Plus, it doesn’t have full power10mm oomph to take it hunting and feel comfortable it’ll perform on deer-hogs beyond very short range...

For folks without a 9mm PC already it could be a very good choice, and for home defense the .40 cal would be great ... like I think the 9mm PC is in that role :).

Time will tell if the .40 stays in the lineup or not...and if a .45 or a 10mm will someday follow. Until then...Stay safe.

I don't expect the .40 version match the 9mm version in sales. It appeals to me because I got my PCC mainly as a suppressor host, with a hard speed limit right around 1,090 fps, getting more thump involves wider heavier bullets. 200gr extreme plated bullets are only $6.50 more per 500 than the 165gr 9mm I'm using now, not much difference. .45 would work as well, but I already load and shoot .40, with the plethora of cheap .40 pistols floating around on the used market, I think I'll be shooting it even more in the future. 10mm wouldn't open up any extra bullets for me, and really would only add extra speed that I don't want. I can see why a 10mm PCC would be interesting to others, and I am a bit surprised that Ruger put out the .40 before the .45, there's plenty of room in mag well for .45/10mm mags.

You'll see them available for sale by the end of next week.

Ruger learned their lesson long ago. When they announce new items now they have them sitting on the loading dock waiting to ship.

That's been my experience over the last several years as well. When Ruger announces a new product, there's a good chance the first shipment is already on trucks headed to stores.

Cool! I'm glad I waited, now to decide which one.

Ruger seems to like to draw attention before the NRA annual meetings. I would look for all manner of interesting things in the coming weeks.

Has anyone come out with additional magwell adaptors for the 9mm version yet? I remember hearing someone say how 3d printing a prototype would be easy, doubt it would hold up to the use.

If Ruger will offer a magwell for either the Beretta 92 / M9 or S&W M&P 9mm I will add it to my must buy list. I really like the colors as I am pretty much bummed out on all black guns anymore.

I wonder about aftermarket magwell offers also but I wonder if Ruger has a patent on it.

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to this beholder, the regular carbine is kind of awkward looking and feels muzzle heavy. The free float one looks even worse on both accounts.

Where is this warehouse? I highly doubt that Ruger has been paying to store something for 30+ years. Not to mention that the XGI was ANNOUNCED back when Ruger was famous for announcing and not producing for years.

I was all-in when the PC Carbine came out, but I had just dumped everything 9mm I had and went strictly to .40s&w so I held off hoping one day they'd come out with one in .40s&w.

I had promised to buy one if they ever came out in .40s&w, I even recently purchased a bunch of Glock .40s&w stick mags having faith that they would make the PC Carbine in .40s&w and low an behold here it is!

Normally I hate the colored-plastic FDE type stocks for rifles - kind of makes them look like toys - but for some reason they just look sweet on the Ruger.

Looks very PPSH-41ish with the aluminum hand guard.

Reminded me of a PPSH-41 as well!

Maybe add something like a KCI 50 round Glock drum magazine, get someone to make an aftermarket wooden stock, and the transformation will be complete!

To me, the PC carbine was great when it came out and I thought was one of the best PCC's on the market... then I built a 9mm AR and that killed all my interest in the PC carbine. I don't expect a 10mm anytime soon, but with how Hi Point made a 10mm carbine, I can't see how Ruger wouldn't be able to either, unless Ruger's engineering dept has fallen off a cliff like their QC has.

Now, if Ruger wants to take my money, they need to bring back and update the Model 44 carbine. Keep the tube magazine, make it full length, no more of that 5 round capacity crap, and actually, make it a dual tube like the KSG but it alternates so we can get total capacities up to like 15 rounds. Offer that in 10mm, .357, .327, .44 Mag, .45 Colt and they won't be able to make enough to meet demand.
