Picked up a Russian Makarov at the gun store today for $210, out the door. Came with one extra magazine. It appears to be a Baikal IJ-70, and is chambered in 9x18Makarov. My question is, was this a good deal? Anything I should know about this gun?

I don't believe the Ij-70 Maks are considered the most valuable but you still have an excellent pistol at that price. I would have paid that much without a fuss.

Check makarov.com for accessories and try a search for silver bear 115gr 9x18 ammunition, it's supposed to be the good stuff.

At today's price that's a good buy. The price is steady going up on them.

It looks like it has Pearce (rubber) grips. My Wife liked them but I like the original plastic better.

I reload my ammo, so I can't tell you who has the cheapest factory ammo.

The only problem you might run into is some large hollow point bullets hanging up on the botton of the feed ramp but a polish job on the feed ramp usually cures that.

Fair deal, IMO

At $210, you didn't steal it. But you didn't get robbed, either. I've seen these guns selling for $200-$300 lately, with $225 as about the "right" price.

I had one in .380 and used it to qualify for my CHL (concealed handgun license) twice. Shot 246 out of a possible 250 both times, so it was an accurate shooter. Trigger pull is typical "military", but it's managable.

My daughter shot mine last year and decided she wanted it. I'm thinking about buying a Bersa and trading her out of it. I'd like to have it back. If I find a nice one at $210, it's gonna be mine.

Looks a lot like mine that I just traded for, so far I like mine fine.. mine came with the original Russia grips and a spare set that I like better,, and the original hostler and all purpose tool. and two spare clips plus the matching serial number original one.

few links for you to enjoy. BTW,how to you carry yours? what hostler? belt, ankle, what? just looking or idea for mine. And what your favorite brand ammo?

I picked up two IJ-70's last year, one for $200 and the other for $179.

I would pay $210 for another one if I saw one, they are going to become harder and harder to find as time goes by and the prices will go up on these. I remember a few years ago when you could buy Bulgarians for under $200 now you're lucky to find them for under $250.

I really love the IJ-70, the finish isn't all that great but they are accurate, reliable little pistols, you did well enjoy it!

Here's mine with my Saiga.....
