S&w 10-6

Just picked up this beauty. S&W 10-6 in Nickel. It looks hardly fired. Very light line on cylinder. Smith says born between 1973-74.

I've heard about some solvents hurting Nickel? If so, what solvents won't hurt finish?

Buy some break free clp for most all basic cleaning,oiling and preservation. If you do manage to lead the barrel kroil will work under it with some set time and then it can be brushed out. Back the break free clp

I once left some Hoppe's No 9 on a satin nickel gun for an extended period, it did mar the finish. After much oil and time, it looks pretty good these days.

Thanks for the replies gents. I have plenty of break free clp, so that's what I'll use.

Walkalong, it's a fav already and I haven't shot it...points great and has a nice double &sinlge action trigger pull. I think I'm going to be reloading lots of 38spl soon.

If you lead the barrel, buy a COPPER Choreboy scrubbing pad.
Make sure it's copper (not copper plated steel)

Take a strand or two & wrap it around a brush or mop.
Just a couple of swipes & you'll have no more lead.

No strong chemicals needed & it's very easy on your hands & arms.

Same principal as Lewis Lead Remover, but a whole lot cheaper.
