S&W .41 Magnum

Majic, that barrel adds some weight, makes it feel like a big .38 spl. If you shot one , you would understand.
You want a heavy .41 magnum to reduce recoil then get a Dan Wesson or a Ruger Redhawk.

Well, I was at a point I was thinking of buying some reloading equipment anyway with all the different calibers I have accumulated. Looks like I have now purchased the deciding factor. It would come in handy for .30 carbine, .32, .380, 9mm, and .45 too, I guess. I seem to be knocking on the door of a new gun ($$$) with all the dies and a reloader too. I'm already accumulating brass for the .41...it's a lot easier with the revolver than with all my autos. I don't know what the favorite is these days...as a teen, I used my buddy's Lee equipment to reload, but now it looks like the RL550B from Dillon is a nice rig. Please, everyone flame me if it's a bad choice, but tell me what's better. I just started looking at the reloading posts yesterday but got interrupted by work...geez, they just don't understand you can't concentrate on work within 5 days of a new gun purchase, do they?

Doesn't the N frame S&W already weigh more than a Ruger Redhawk? (Before adding a 1lb+ barrel)

Yes that barrel is strange, I've never seen one done like that to a S&W .41mag. I have a Ruger Redhawk and a Blackhawk in .41mag but no S&W's yet.

There's always the "color wars" raging across the reloading forum.

.41 Mag being priced the way it is I ordered an XL-650 with casefeeder. I'm pretty sure I've already amortized the beast.

The reloading forum is pretty good for help with loads, bullet selection, die set-up and the like. Request equipment input at your peril.

that is a LOT of gun for the price. You got an absolute screamin' deal.

My preference is the stock barrel as I would want to carry it. Still, I bet that it shoots great.

41 mag is a GREAT caliber. I wish it were more popular so that the market would offer more choices. Guess you have to settle for having a rare custom gun. So sad...
