The N-frame Mountain Guns are, IMHO, about the best large-frame compromise between trail portability and magnum load shootability. Any more size and weight and you’re probably looking for a chest holster to comfortably carry, any less and it can be brutal on the hands after a couple of magnums. For anyone who isn’t familiar with the 629 MG, the frame is the same size as the regular 4” N frame handguns but the barrel has a thinner profile so there is a bit of a weight savings.

The Model 57 and 629 MG;

The only negative with the MG is the price. Since they’re not common they average North of $1,300 bucks a copy on GB .
Stay safe.
