I have a 4" S&W 686+ that I cherish as my woods gun. I've been carrying right-side belt in a Galco leather holster - however, I've found that with it's high-riding nature, it can get in the way when carrying a pack.

I'd like to find an across-the-chest rig to remedy this - does anyone have any experience/suggestions with such a setup?

Many thanks,

Leif

I don't, but here are some options...

Simply Rugged "Chesty Puller" (note this is just the harness, you also need a holster from them) https://www.simplyrugged.com/ecommerce/Chesty-Puller-Suspension-System.cfm?item_id=160&parent=672

El Paso Saddlery http://epsaddlery.com/product-category/holsters/hunting-field/shoulder-holsters-hunting-field/

Diamond D https://www.diamonddcustomleather.com/products/guides-choice-chest-holster

I'll second Simply Rugged. I bought one of the Chesty Puller harness' and have holsters for everything from 1911's to small single action revolvers. Depending on what I'm doing or where I'm going I can choose which handgun seems to suit my fancy.

Thanks for sharing the links JTQ.I had never thought about a across the chest holser, till I read your statement about why you would like some info.about the holster CavalierLeif.

Thanks for the links, JTQ - the Chesty Puller looks great, especially with the conventional adapter. Love my holster, the D.A.O., which I'd like to keep - as I'm sure you all understand, there's something about a well-fitting and well-weathered holster that just speaks special to you. One that you haven't retired to the drawer. Great to see an option that lets me mount it.
