moving to the S&W (striker-fired, more modern feel-like a Glock)
Does anyone have a S&W M&P 22 suppressed?
The MP-22 and MP-22Compact are not striker fired. Both have an internal hammer, just like the Ruger 22/45.
The MP-22 (fullsize) is made under license by Umarex/Walther. They are the exact same size as the real deal, but suffer some quality issues as with lots of Umarex stuff.
The MP-22C (compact) is 85% the size of the real deal. These are made by S&W and tend to feel a little better and have better quality control (safety has solid clicks on/off).
To the best of my knowledge, parts do not interchange.
I have the MP-22C with the threaded adaptor for the suppressor, having sold off my Ruger 22/45 that was unthreaded. I bought it for mounting a suppressor, though I have not done that yet (it's still in jail). I like the MP-22c quite a bit and do like it more than the Ruger. It feels more like a "real" gun, the magazines go in at a more normal angle and drop free with the slide locked back, etc. It has cycled all .22 ammo that I've put through it (Remington, CCI, Automatch, etc).
It does have it's oddities though. The threaded suppressor adaptor has to be removed to disassemble the gun. It arrives with the appropriate wrench to do so, but I broke 2 of them, trying to get the adapter removed for the first time. S&W must have some gorilla putting these on. S&W was good about sending out replacement wrenches, adaptors, and finally accepting it back so their armorers could do it. Once they broke it loose for me, I've had no problems since.
