S&W Model 36 Manufacture Date:

I have a model 36 S&W square frame, 5 shot .38 Special CTG w/ 3" bbl and have a couple of questions. 1) What does CTG mean, 2) Can anyone help me with the manufacture date? The serial # is J49073, and 3) What is it's value. It is in very good to excellent condition.

CTG is the abbreviation for Cartridge.

As in .38 S&W Special Cartridge.
