Hi there. I will soon be acquiring the above pistol- my first 1911-style handgun. I've read about concerns regarding short barrel 1911's. I'm eager to check this guy out for myself. Does anyone know if many of the aftermarket 1911 parts are compatible with the Micro Compact? I'm sure the short barrel and slide may limit some, but how about getting a better trigger, for example? I put a lighter hammer spring in my Beretta 92, with good results, and I know that there are aftermarkets for just about everything on a 1911, including springs and trigger units.

Also- does anyone know if there is a Springfield Armory 1911, or general, forum out there? I'm already familiar with 1911.org.

Thanks for any input, folks, and good shooting!

ChuckB,

All the trigger group will be the same as any 1911 (hammer, trigger, sear, etc). About the only thing proprietary on the Micro is the barrel length, and recoil setup. If it will work on an Officer's size frame, then it will work on the Micro. At one time the magazine were slightly different than a standard officer's mag, but I'm not sure if that is still the case or not.

As for the forum, http://www.1911forum.com/forums/ is the place you want to check out. There is a dedicated SA forum that has a wealth of information. The forum has been down for the past few days, but it is scheduled to be back up tomorrow sometime. Good Luck!

The SA Micro has a 6+1 magazine, so I'm sure it's proprietary. After shooting it for a while, I'll see if other options appeal to me.
