I loaded some ammo and am wondering if it safe to shoot after reading another thread. This is my first attempt at reloading. The other thread said they bought Reinier bullets and were recommended to load them with cast bullet data. I bought Berry's plated bullets and on Berry's web site they said to load them in the middle range of jacketed. Here is what I did. I would appreciate it if anybody would let me know if they think this is unsafe to shoot.
Thanks
Rusty

I load Berry's in both 9mm and .40 cal using the info in Hodgdon's recipie book. I found that loads on the low end to the middle of the range work very well. Most of the men I shoot with use Berry's loaded to mid range and are very happy with the results. You should not have any problems with those loads.

Thanks Art. I will clean it up next time.

Thanks fineredmist. I thought they would be safe but being new I would rather ask and be safe than sorry. The Berry's web site said they were good up to 1200 fps and all of my loads are under that. Now this leads me to a new question. The maximum load for a cast bullet is less than the minimum load for a FMJ bullet. If I would have loaded by the cast data would the plated bullets have shot OK and would my gun have cycled?
Thanks,
Rusty

Rusty,

What is the OAL you are using? that makes a bit of difference trying to compare data between sources. One might load slightly longer and can get safely use more powder. The shorter teh OAL the less powder for a max load to reach the same pressure.

What is the OAL you are using?
The Speer reloading manual said 1.135. I measured my factory rounds and they measured the same. I set mine up at 1.135. How much can they vary before you have to change the amount of powder?
