I've been looking into getting a Saiga shotgun for a long time now and have been looking into the 20 gauge because I already have a 12ga HD gun and a 20ga would be slightly smaller and lighter but still pack more punch than a .410. However, I have yet to talk to anyone who's owned or shot one, and I have noticed almost all the accessories made for Saiga shotguns (i.e., aftermarket mags, rail systems, etc.) are made for either the 12ga or the .410.
Why does it seem the S20 is so unpopular compared to the other two?

I don't think of it as forgotten. I have all three saiga shotgun gauges and the only one that I converted was my S20. At the time it took some doing but it turned out well for me. A lot of the s12 items fit or can be made to fit fairly easy.

I got the 12 because of the drums.

That's exactly my point... why are there no drums or hi-cap mags (besides the clear plastic 13-rounder) for the 20ga?

probably has a lot to do with the 12 gauge owning the market. Go to local gunstore and count how many 20's are there compared to 12's. My bet is you could get the 20's on 1 hand.

Don't mention the brand name "Alliance Armament" on the S12 forum... but they have a 23 round drum for the S20. It's VERY pricey but it's CNC machined billet aluminum instead of molded plastic... which doesn't make it any better but it's prettier... and heavier.

Saiga 12/20 appeal to the HD crowd and range toy kind of guys. In the U.S. that's pretty much only 12ga.

The #1 reason I got the 12 rather than the 20 or .410 was the 12's ability to shoot 2-3/4" and 3" shells from the same magazine. The 20 and .410 require a different magazine for each shell length.

Figured I'd pass along the news that these are available.

8 round steel magazine for the 20 gauge. Its a little pricey but compared to russian import 8 round mags they are dang cheap. (russian mag current pricing is $139 plus shipping for a 8 round 20 gauge, compared with $51 shipping included)
