Bought a Saiga 7.62 16" barrel, and my weak eyes want a scope for some longer range plinking fun. I'm new to the AK field, so I need some advice.

I see the side mounts like this Made In Belarus model.

There is also a model that comes with built in rings.

Any thoughts or experience with these mounts??

I hear you should avoid the top cover mounts.

Also, I read about folks mounting Russian scopes on Saigas, but can't I just slap any old cheap 1" scope on one of these mounts?

Any other tips or suggestions on the subject would be appreciated.

Thanks

And while your'e at it,get one of these scopes. They're much nicer than their price would indicate.

$19.99 on sale! Geeeeeez!

Do you have one? For 20 bucks I wouldn't expect much. What makes them much nicer than their price would indicate?

As a matter of fact i do own one.Its clear, bright ,sharp and appears outwardly to be very well made.Would it hold up on an African safari-i doubt it.Will it hold up on my Saiga -im betting it will.

Thanks for the tips.

Still one question: Can I put a regular American 1" scope on one of those AK mounts?

No need for a Russian scope or anything, right? Or wrong?

Any advice?

Thanks
