I picked up a new Sako 75 (.30-06) yesterday and need to buy a scope for it.

I was comparing the 3-9 Zeiss Conquest w/ the 2.5-8 Leupold VX-III and preferred the image quality of Leupold a bit better (e.g. brighter whites). Then I compared the 2.5-8 to the 3.5-10 VX-III and decided I liked the size of the 3.5-10 better (the 2.5-8 has a shorter tube). Unfortunately the store didn't have the size rings I needed, so they are going to order them for me.

Since I didn't buy the scope yet, I thought I'd ask the folks on this forum their thoughts on my scope selection and if they have any other recommendations besides the Leupold VX-III.

I like the Leupold scopes. Nikons are good scopes too.
I had two Zeiss Conquests and thought they were over rated. I replaced them with Leupold and Nikon scopes.

Anyone have any experience w/ a Bushnell Elite 3200/4200 or Burris Signature Select 3-10x40?

How would you rate them compared to the VX-III or Conquest?

I'm a big fan of the Leupold VXIII's. I know the top of the line Zeiss scopes are great, and while I don't know all the details of the Conquest line I know that they're more of an "economy" line for Zeiss. I'd rather have a company's best efforts rather than a product intended to be less than the best.

I have a Bushnell 3200 2-7-32 on my Tikka .308 its has served me well the past 3 deer seasons. I have taken 2 deer around 5:30 at night in late november in Stannard township so its plenty bright. I like the 3200 better than the Burris fullfield I have used before, the Burris fogged up on me a few times. I cant compare to Leupold/Zeiss as I dont own one, Im just a poor yooper hunter. ;)

I ended up going with the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40. I wasn't originally impressed w/ the first Conquest I looked at, but the second one I looked thru was much better. I also liked the fixed eye relief as cheaptrick mentioned.
