Hate to admit it but I acquired this about 20 years ago and it has never been shot. Long story but the condensed version is that these two guys at the range I shot at for years were a bit eccentric...Always seemed to have plenty of money and always bought the top of the line weapons until something either displeased them or their interest in shooting took them elsewhere. When that happened the guns they were holding got sold on the spot...usually somewhere between the firing line and the parking lot. They had two .30 -06 rifles at the range that day. A Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe and the Sako L61R Deluxe. The Weatherby had 20 rounds fired through it (saw them take it out of the box and clean the grease out of it & shoot it.) The Sako was never taken out of the box...still had the Walmart sales receipt in the box ($1240.00). After 20 rounds in the Weatherby they announced that they were going into benchrest shooting and that the rifles (W/O the scopes) were for sale ASAP! I paid them $900 for the two rifles and turned around and sold the Vanguard for $600. My net on the Sako was the princely sum of $300. Here's the rub that I need help with. That darn Sako has one of the prettiest pieces of walnut on it I have ever laid eyes on...never could bring myself to shoot it. So, do I shoot it or allow it to remain in pristine condition in my safe? AND...as Paul Harvey used to say: "Now the rest of the story" These two guys (actually father and son) literally blew themselves up one afternoon shooting reduced-load cast lead bullets out of an old Schmid Rubin that someone that had fashioned into a "benchrest" gun. They announced that they were done with the shooting sports and had the largest fire sale you ever saw.

LOL, well thats one way to go out with a "BANG"......

Id shoot it, but i shoot everything i can get my hands on. If the stock is an issue you can always get a synthetic b&c, bed it up, and just go with that for shooting.
