I've got a slide that I'd like to salvage for a project. It has two holes where a Millett dual-crimp front sight used to be. I'd like to put a dovetail front sight on it.

Can I get those holes welded up so I can cut a dovetail? Or would I be better off just finding another Millett sight (and a smith with the crimp tool)?

If it can be welded, is there anyone that you can reccommend to do the work?

Thanks in advance!

I don’t know the size of the holes left by the previous sight; however if the dovetail sight you chouse would cover them once installed you could forgo the welding. If the weld is going to show make sure the refinisher knows weld is present, as some finishes will look different in that area.
