According to Sarah her organization is mounting pressure today on the Senate to "take action and update background checks". Is the Senate considering anything specific or has Everytown just chosen today to pester the Senate??

That'll do it! When Ralph the drug addict does a B&E and finds a couple of guns to use to trade with Albert for his next fix there is no background check. Albert has security in his neighborhood so he sells the guns Ralph traded to Albert to get High to Paul who runs the adjacent neighborhood's protection and gambling, again no background check.
These folks are the 'gun violence' problem and they will never be regulated by background checks.
This scheme is designed to fail so more restrictive laws can be ratified.

And it SOUNDS so reasonable to the uninformed. Who could ever be against keeping guns out of the wrong hands?
Keeping in mind that most politicians are terrified of being accused and blamed for something bad happening, they will fall for this type of thing if they haven't thought it out. If they do know better, they don't have that excuse...

Ok, well, this is all well and good, except, it won't stop the illegal selling of guns by criminals, or shady characters.
Bad guys and criminals will still get guns any time they want without any kind of check.
This only adds another step to burden the law abiding citizen from buying, or selling a gun from/to someone they know and trust.
When it fails to stop the surge of illegal guns on the street, and it will, it will open the doors for more dangerous, and restrictive, gun laws being enacted.
But, maybe, that is the gun grabbers plan.

Since none of us have seen anything from these clowns nor has dug anything up, it looks like a standard marketing technique.
