Saturn Powder Funnels

I have a couple of plastic funnels I use, but I did not have one that fit 6MM and wanted one that would sit on the case by its self, and the Satern checks those two things.

I don't blame you for wanting a funnel that sits on top of the brass without leaning over. It just looks like they took a great idea and product and stopped making it as high quality as it was. I hate having to hold the funnel but never wanted to spend the money on that tool. It's even on my watch list waiting for a sale lol.

Probably the tooling wearing out, no reason to pay to replace it until enough people complain.
If it's holding powder in ridges call them and ask maybe they will replace it.

I feel so ashamed. So worthless. So meaningless. All I ever use are these. The bigger one is for filling the powder hopper and back again to the storage container.

That made me smile. :) Me too......but not about tools......my shame is not using them, whatever I have, as often as some of you guys do........maybe dementia's coming.....or I'm just too tired after work.

As for tools.....my expensive ones build homes, doctors offices, to grocery stores......and I've learned that you buy what saves time because time is money. That hasn't carried over to my hobbies....which include tinkering and making home-built tools. But I don't usually buy esoteric tools, unless they do something better and/or faster than anything I can make or buy inexpensively.

The other factor important to me when using/buying tools is "wear". Not how the tools wear.....more how the tools wear.....ME. ;) For example the Girard Trimmer....nice, but not for my hands. Already had one carpal tunnel operation.

Why not? Great idea!! This and cfullgraf gave me another, to do something a little different with an Old RCBS funnel.

cfullgraf hates the Uniflow Powder measure's .22 to .270 adapter, (too big a diameter hole and doesn't have a recess for the case). And so made his own special .22 only version out of brass. I was impressed and told him, so what does he do? He made me one and I love it! Not only does it work in the Uniflow.......look what else I found it could do!

Just used a piece of electrical tape to hold it....
Below shows the difference (see the recess for the .223 case) between cfullgraf's and a Uniflow factory .22-270 adapter. The recess is deep enough to use on the P.M., but isn't deep enough to rest on a case, so I'm thinking why not drill it deeper on a drill press so it won't tip. Even a wood worker like me could do that, and it shouldn't effect use on the Uniflow,

You all know I just modified my Hornady Pistol Bullet Feeder.......well I no longer needed the flextube clamp that rode aboard the feeder bucket.......I don't throw things away.....and tonight I just wondered what size it was compared to the funnel base and the identical diameter RCBS or cfullgraf adapters.....well, what do you know.....the same. ;)

I wonder if I can find a local friend who can drill out other RCBS steel adapters (same dia.) to allow the funnel to rest on other sized cases? :)

Granted...not too elegant....just cheap, and handy.....the electrical tape works fine.

ARRRRG.

Now I HAVE to have a funnel set. Curse you Walkalong.

Spending far too much on-line time researching funnels. I'm even looking at using either CNC or 3D printing for making my own design.

Sad thing is I only load about 100 rifle rounds a quarter!!!

Life sucks, then you die!:D

You do have a great idea.....Why NOT 3D print just bases for an old RCBS or MTM funnel.....lighter weight and less wieldy than mine.......made to fit inside the drop? That way you don't deal with having to sand down and polish the funnel interior.........Jus one problem for me.....no 3D printer.:(

I read the reviews about the nifty looking (though expensivish) Extreme Gear ones.....some thought they were too heavy and leaned using some calibers.....an indicator that not all calibers fit as well as others.....

I wonder about plugging a case, then Vaseline coating it and the inside of my old RCBS funnel drop, then with the funnel resting upside down and the case centered......just pour casting resin in what's left.....too much trouble? Probably, except for those inflicted with the curiousity disease like me. Bet they'd fit, though, and you could make one for each caliber YOU load.

Be careful how deep you drill. Too deep and the mouth of the funnel will rest on the case shoulder and the recess will lose contact with the case mouth. I set the depth of the recess so that the case mouth would push on the case activated powder drop system, not the shoulder.

Designing and machining an adapter, even one that would also work with the PM, that would sit on top of a case would not be difficult. But it would look a bit different from the one I designed.

You can check your local library. The one by me offer free printing. Others might charge a minimal fee.

Well........the "unless" just got me here ...... After going to their web site.....
and finding and watching the following video I'm sold....forget all the others, homemade or commercial, mine included.....they really do have a better product.

With not a little egg on my face, $29 is worth every penny if it does what I saw it do.....I won't buy 10 of them tonight....but nothing says I can't buy one or two a month!:)

Now I'm pretty sure it would be worthwhile to grind and polish the insides of Uniflows (and other brands) of powder measures to do away with bridging in progressives. Who makes such thing.....if no one, who's going to be first to manufacture a polished aluminum powder measure casting and drop tubes?!

Sweet!

I wish I had just ponied up for one of those in the first place, instead of buying the Satern. I really should call them and fuss about the poor quality control.

Oh well.

These are home made "funnels" for my powder drop set up on the LNL. I promise you they are super polished and slick on the inside.

The case runs up into the bottom of these funnels that the measure dumps into.

Harrell’s Precision ?

Okay, now I'm confused.......it's the reviews in Midway.com. The first two I wanted is .308 and .223.....the reviews on those two aren't positive. Spilled powder through the .308, and the .224 doesn't fit a .223 remington case?

So South Prairie Jim.....which ones do you have besides the purple .244? I want to believe......;) I'm wondering also how military brass might work.....investigation before ordering is prudent.

As for Harrells P.M. I don't think they will work on a progressive.

Walkalong: You and cfullgraf and your lathes!......I'm jealous! I tried a lathe in college....it must have been 12' long.....It was a scared freshman's not so comfortable first experience.....second experience never happened.

I only have this one funnel, for my 6BR
It functions perfectly with Lapua Brass.
I suppose you could call them as I did when ordering.
I also have their Savage bolt handle and very pleased.
Made in America :)
