Saturn Powder Funnels

Okay, now I'm confused.......it's the reviews in Midway.com. The first two I wanted is .308 and .223.....the reviews on those two aren't positive. Spilled powder through the .308, and the .224 doesn't fit a .223 remington case?

So South Prairie Jim.....which ones do you have besides the purple .244? I want to believe......;) I'm wondering also how military brass might work.....investigation before ordering is prudent.

As for Harrells P.M. I don't think they will work on a progressive.

Walkalong: You and cfullgraf and your lathes!......I'm jealous! I tried a lathe in collage....it must have been 12' long.....It was a scared freshman's not so comfortable first experience.....second experience never happened.

I have the Hardcore in 223. It fits the LC brass like it should, and the Lapula brass with turned necks. I have 3 more calibers too.

I got the bright idea that I could chuck it up in the little lathe and polish down the inside. I knew I needed to be careful as there were likely to be very thin spots. Well, yep, I polished a hole in it. Back to square one. I guess I could make an adapter to fit my little plastic funnel that would sit on the cases like the Satern did.

Ok, you got the orange one that says .224, or another one? People complained that that one wouldn't even go around the neck. More confused by the minute.....maybe a phone call would be best. Quality control issue????

Sure would add up fast......

Yup.....even for 2 base adapters it does........think I'm going to wait for Walkalong to try it first. ;)

I will say one thing about this Area 419 product line.......they offer a custom adapter.......that means for example, if it fits .308 commercial, and not 7.62 LC.....you could have them make up one that will fit......pricey.....but for a for a single need maybe tolerable. As for .223, Military vs. .223 commercial shouldn't be that much different.....even case weight-wise.

I haven't see a similar offer on the Hardcore product. IOW's I'm not a fan of buying something only to have to send it back because it doesn't fit.

I have one with the same crimp. Never had a problem.
In fairness to the funnel/Satern, despite the ridges, it "worked" even though I had to bump it here and there. Then I ruined it by being too aggressive with the sanding.

I do think ones that bad should never leave the factory.

Have to agree.....it's a choice. Somebody bumped the CNC machine control or didn't change cutters soon enough and let a batch or more through. The choice was to send them out anyway. That's a reflection of someone who doesn't care or someone who would have to pay the piper for production losses. Hope some sent them back.....If I owned the company I would want to know.....and warnings would follow that heads would roll if it happened again.

Walkalong, I'd still send it back (with a note of explanation)....what do you have to lose.

I get it. Now, how much to spend for a funnel? I load .223 only and don't have to have 80 grains in the funnel which may or may not require a "tap" to get those heavy kernels down the spout. I originally had one of those universal spouts and got tired of sweeping up powder from my bench.

I have eight of the Satern funnels. The oldest ones are a tiny bit smoother inside but the newest ones have ridges that still don't catch any kernels. I couldn't figure out how to store them until I was cleaning a pistol one day. I was using a along wooden stick cotton swap, kind of like a kabob stick and just dropped it down the hole and stack four in a stack. Easy peasy.
