DSC_0494.JPG Alright gentlemen, I need all you savage 1899/99 experts to help me identify my rifles. I have come to the conclusion that they are both 1899 savages but after reading for hours on the internet I just am not sure. So here goes;

Rifle #1: 22 savage high power caliber serial number 2069XX, made 1918 or 1919, 20 inch barrel takedown model, integral short ramp front sight, non-checkered straight stock with shotgun butt, steel butt plate, brass cartridge counter, delicate schnoble forearm, all four serial numbers match. The only markings on the rifle other than the four serial numbers and the caliber marking are "LOT*1" in the stock under the butt plate above the butt stock serial number and the barrel roll marking "Manufactured by Savage Arms Corp. Utica, N.Y. USA. July 25, 1893. October 3, 1899. Sep. 10, 1907. May 25, 1909. June 1, 1909."

Rifle #2: 250-3000 caliber serial number 2058XX, made 1918 or 1919, 22 inch barrel take down model, integral short ramp front sight, checkered pistol grip stock with shotgun butt, steel butt plate, brass cartridge counter, delicates schnoble forearm, all four serial numbers match.

Neither rifle is marked "Savage 1899" on the barrel or frame ring nor do they have the "Savage 99" marking on the frame ring. Neither rifle is drill or tapped with non factory holes.

There you have it. All opinions very much appreciated! Thanks, Scott
