Savage 720 question

I have a Savage 720 shotgun with a cracked stock. Will a stock and forearm for a Browning A5 fit the 720?

According to disassem instructions it should. However; I have experienced some difficulty with this. The Savage, as I recall, lower tang is curved somewhat lower than the Auto 5. May have been a fluke, but the Auto 5 Stock, lower tang curve is (closer together) not curved to the same degree as the Savage.

Although the Savage was made off the Browning pat. it is not exactly the same and parts are not generaly considered interchanable between the two.
