There's nothing wrong with a 30" barrel, and if you want long-range performance it'll give some more of that vs. a 26" After carrying around a 26" barrel with another 8" of suppressor hanging off the end, I'm not so hung up on apparent barrel length.

One of my fellow Colorado shooters uses a Choate stock, ugly as it is, and he gets great results. Of course, he is an exceptional shooter. He also modified it to work with AICS mags.

If you're going to replace everything, I'd probably just buy a Stevens action for $225

Ski,

That would be ideal, but where can I just buy a Stevens action? Also, I'd really like to have the Accu-Trigger. How do I go about getting a Stevens action with an Accu-Trigger? Was the Accu-Trigger action that you bought a Savage or a Stevens fitted with the AT? The only reason I was looking to buy that Savage is because all the Stevens 200's around here are right around $300. Then, I know I'm going to have to spend another 70-100 dollars on an aftermarket trigger, and it still wouldn't be an AT like I want, so I figured $400 was pretty fair. Enlighten me!

If you buy a Stevens, you might as well plan to put the SSS trigger in it, which will have you up to the Savage cost, but the SSS is much nicer than the accutrigger. The last action I bought was a savage, but the previous owner had replaced some springs with lighter ones, so it was pretty nice. You can get any action you want from a guy with the handle of Northlander on savageshooters.com. PM me for a phone number.
