I've owned 2 pre accutrigger Savage rifles and had an opportunity to shoot a 3rd and while they were OK rifles I have never had one consistently shoot under 1 1/2" groups. Two were .308 and the other was .243. I've read too much to discount that they are capable of much better and have ordered a new one that should be in this week and plan to give it another try.

Just to be different I am getting the Scout Rifle in .308. I don't expect it to be a tack driver but they are putting the accurtrigger on the scout now and I have read reports of sub MOA groups. Since I don't currently own a scout scope I plan to mount a scope conventionally to try it out and may go the scout scope route later.

I'm looking for tips on these rifles, I may have given up on the others too soon. I have been looking at them in the gunshops and they are growing on me.

I don't have one of those models but I do have a savage 12fv .223 its a tack driver its got the accu-trigger its set on 1 1/2lbs from the factory and its a tack driver. a friend has got a model 11something can't recall at the moment .270 its a tack driver. good rifles well built and tough as nails.

I've got lots of Savages, but no Scout rifles. But if it doesn't shoot, don't give up on it too fast, and try the Savage forum.

Definately not a savage expert . ..but my 10FLP has always shot right out of the box. I was wondering what ammo you'd tried in yours? Mine seems to like bullets on the heavier end of the scale, but I think I'd start out with Federal Gold Match to see what it'll do. (I do 99.999% of my shooting with handloads)

FWIW.

Have a good one,
Dave
