Hello. I've been trying to work out random light hits on my savage. Tried a washer in spring cavity which helped some. Still no boom boom sometimes.
Came up with solution to what I think was problem= spring bind. Where the two springs meet the little round coil washer they always went out of position. I made a brass spacer and spring guide that replaces the coil washer and gives .045 more preload on springs.
Gets nice hard hits on primer now and no more distorted springs. The springs are held in alignment by the brass spacer guided by the firing pin.
Really worked for me. Drawing has measurements.
Good lick
