I don't know if this is the right place for this, but putting together a 10.5" .300 bo sbr build, dominantly running subsonic ammo, no suppressor yet (later probably, but money dictates can't do it all at once), with or without suppressor, will I need a lighter buffer to expect reliable cycling?

If it has a pistol length gas system (it almost certainly does) and the manufacture ported it correctly you should expect it to run well with a standard buffer and spring. Depending on the suppressor you ultimately put on it you might want to got to a heavier buffer with the suppressor to slow the bolt down a bit. But in general 300 BO with a a pistol length gas system is usually really tolorate to a variety of ammo and suppressed/unsuppressed. My 9-inch 300 BO is running a standard buffer and spring and will cycle reliably with subsonic ammo or super-sonic ammo and with or without my suppressor mounted.

I ran into problems with light loads an a pistol blackout. I took one of the weights out of my buffer, which didn't really help. Then I cut a couple coils off my buffer spring and it worked fine.

My PSA 8" ran supers just fine with std. buffer and spring but not subs unsupressed Has to switch to a lightweight carrier, and swapped in a Sprinco yellow buffer spring for good measure. For supers I can drop in an H2 and std. spring but it does run fine with std buffer & yellow spring.
But all depends on gas port size, you probably won't know til you run it.
