SBR Overall Lengths

I am about to submit a number of Form 1s for SBRs. Does anyone know the OALs for the following configured firearms:

1. M92 PAP with Manticore Arms Triangle stock, Stormwerkz Hinge, and Krinkov-style muzzle brake.
2. AR15 with 10.5" barrel, A2 birdcage flash hider, and standard collapsible 6-position stock.
3. AR15 with 8.5" barrel, A2 birdcage flash hider, and standard collapsible 6-position stock.

The AR-15's can follow this rule of thumb:

Barrel length + 19" = OAL.

Keep in mind that OAL is the length of the gun from stock to muzzle parallel to the bore with any collapsible stock extended and non-permanent muzzle devices do not count.

You don't need to be exact so use your best guess, after all there's no way to know the exact length since you can't build it yet.

Aaron Baker who's an attorney and an NFA wiz seems to agree. In his Sticky Post in this section he writes:

In 4e, you put the barrel length for SBRs or SBSs. Again, the original configuration length is all that is necessary, but you can also list multiple lengths. Do not put “multi” for this or for caliber, as the ATF no longer accepts that answer. In 4f, put the overall length for the original configuration. A rough estimate is fine; on adjustable or folding stocks, use the extended length.

Thanks guys. Very helpful. I submitted a couple Form 1s last night. Looking to get a couple more submitted before 13 July and then I should be good with NFA items for a little while. So addictive!

Very addicting. I'm ordering a Noveske receiver to SBR before 41F. Will be another custom build, probably with shooting 3 gun in mind but not 100% sure yet.

Sent in a form 1 in January (still waiting) for an AR with 11 inch barrel, collapsible stock . I put 30 inches on the form for OAL, you don't add the length of the flash suppressor unless it's permanently attached.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner ... the PAP is exactly how I have my M85 set up ... its OA length is 31.5" ... my M92 I haven't decided on a stock yet but it will be about the same length ... the M92 shown has my brace adapter on it replaced the stock with a some ACE parts and a Manticore stock but I'm not sure I'm going to use it or a VZ58 folder
