Just a heads up. I have a one-of-a-kind Custom Sako listed on Gunbroker. Yesterday I received a email asking if I was affiliated with someone in Fayetteville that had the same gun listed on Armslist. It was dated 8/4. I checked the site and there in all it's glory was my rifle with my pictures and the same description that I have on GB. Someone is going to get ripped off. I notified Armslist.

90% of my gun sales are online. If you shop online please do your research on the seller and be careful how you pay. I know that it will cost more to transfer the firearm through a licensed dealer but at least you will have the seller's legal name and address.

I use Armslist sometimes, but I shop only my local area. It's fairly easy to look at items in your immediate area, then you can choose gun dealer of private party, and do only face to face exchange.
I require the buyer/seller to show me their CWP, or driver's license, and to attest to me that they are non-felon if they don't have CWP. Easy enough most times to see if they're 21 at least.
All other ads, I don't even look at.

Hey, OP, you should contact drcook, a member of this forum. He knows of multiple armslist listings for other guns that are done exactly like yours.

It's a known issue.

I consider myself an anomaly (and fortunate man). I have used Armslist as a buyer and seller on multiple occasions without incident. One time as a an out of state buyer for an expensive NFA item. It went exactly as advertised.

I must admit that I conducted copious amounts of due diligence in researching and on-line stalking of the seller before I let any money go. FTF in-state sales are the best course of action with the least risk.

Happened to me once, all that Armslist did was take it down. Mine was just an image of my Savage 93 17HMR thumbhole rifle and the crook added the description.
It all comes down to dealing with reputable sellers. I think it's a good idea to google images of firearms we own already and look at images.
That's how I happened to find my stolen image and listing. Once something is posted on the internet it's "out there". Buyer Beware.

If you list a sale only on one site like Gunbroker make a paper tag listing the only site it's on and place it on a part of the rifle that you can't photo shop away when taking pics. So your pics will say where it's posted. I've seen that online..
