Hey all,

I am looking for an optic to put on my SCAR. I am not looking at the Elcan line, for several reasons. I have experience with the mk17 platform with DR 1.5-6x Elcans (we also mounted RMRs on top) and don't have the coin for an Elcan, plus I am not a big fan of them for several reasons. I know lots of people love them, they are a great optic. I just prefer the ACOG line.

I have used red chevron reticle T11s and T33s, and never was a huge fan but I will admit I was lousy with the chevron. I am asking this question primarily to get input on user experiences with the crosshair vs. chevron reticle. The SCAR heavy platform as we all know is extremely capable at most realistic battlefield ranges (0-600m). I have NOT ever used a crosshair ACOG but our Elcans and other optics are obviously all crosshair reticles.

Bottom line: Am I LOSING anything from using a crosshair reticle ACOG on my SCAR? I assume it is slightly more precise based on my use of the chevron, but in your experience, what is there to gain and lose?

Also, I recently picked up one of the enhanced alloy .308 PMAG capable SCAR lowers as well as a KDG buttstock. Will do a review if anyone's interested.

Thanks everyone.

Sight picture is the main issue. Some people do not find the crosshair as easy to pick up but it really comes down to preference.

I have a ACOG ta11j-308g which I have mounted on my Scar 17s and it worked well. If your eyes like the sight picture you should be good to go.

The DR 1.5-6x Elcans is a different beast IMHO and the price reflex it.

I have a Trijicon TA11J-308G on a S & W M&P 10 and like it a lot.I do also have a SCAR 17s with an Elcan DR 1-4 on it.Both are world-class scopes and worth their cost,but quite different.
