I want to scope up my new 527 FS. I want something that's going to sit fairly low above the barrel but clear the bolt with no rubbing. If anyone has recommendations on scope and ring combinations I'd appreciate it.

Kinda thinking right now a Leupold VX2 or VX3i maybe in the 3-9 range but open to other ideas that'll fit well.

I would probably go with a straight to 1-4x20 (your fixed 3 would be fine too) in low rings. Personally I think those fixed stock guns look best with straight tube scopes, but that's just personal preference.

I'd avoid the ones with sticky up turrets.

What LoonWulf and JohnB-40 said....... I have a Leupold 1-4x 20mm on a 30-30 lever gun and it's a sweet little unit. 4x magnification is a lot better than what many folks say; and I agree that a straight tube scope has a neat sort of classic appearance that would set your gun off nicely. They can also be mounted low and if the bolt won't clear a slightly higher set of rings may cure the problem.

Me too. The German #4 is my favorite reticle though.
They make the same thing in a duplex with 1/4 moa adjustments. I'm sure the custom shop could do a reticle swap or adjustment knob swap. (Maybe give it a gloss finish also.) Not sure it'd be worth the cost though.

They will do a reticle swap. I had the custom shop put a German #4 in my VX-3 1.75-6x32.

I may check with them about doing that. It would make more sense I suppose to just order it up through them and have them do it rather than buying one and sending it in. Although honestly the wide duplex would probably be fine also.
