I have a short action Remington 700 chambered in .308 win.

I have a mediocre Bushnell scope on it that gets the job done. The glass is still very clear and it seems to gather enough light for me to go deer hunting. The trouble is, I can't keep this thing zero'd in!

I have some Leupold scope mounts that are just AWFUL! I paid full price for these things thinking they would be as nice as the scopes they sell. No sir, they are the worst scope mounts I've ever encountered. All of the screws back out and the thing comes out of sight.

No, I don't want to use any type of anti slip goop to fix these. I want some new scope mounts that aren't going to move.

What have people had success with?

I use a one piece base with a dovetail in the front and windage adjustable in the back. The last set of rings I bought were Millet. No complaints.

Talley lightweights.
DNZ Game Reaper.
Burris Signature dual dovetails.
Burris XT bases with Warne Maxima rings.

Any of these will work, and there a number of other options that will work just as well.

The DNZ mounts are probably the best on the market at this time. Talley's are good too, a little better looking, but probably not as tough as the DNZ'z. The last thing you want is anything with dovetails or adjustable windage screws.

Thanks for the advice, guys.

I was thinking windage screws would be a bad idea as well. That was the first thing to back out on this scope mount kit that I currently have. The second were the two screws on the front ring.

I have a $50 gift card to Bass Pro left over from the wedding gifts, so I'm pretty sure I'll be shopping there. I was eyeballing these, so it was good to hear that DNZ was recommended by a couple of you.
