what are the scope ring types that alot of ppl use on TC encores and contenders? were theres 3-4 rings holding the scope? my dad likes the look of the multiple rings and believes its better than the traditional 2 rings. should we go steel or aluminum rings? were thinking aluminum since it will lessen weight since we will have a bull barrel. whats the torque weight i shuld use for steel/aluminum rings when mounting the rings to the base and also when mounting the scope to the rings?

last thing is that i emailed burris about a handgun scope my uncle had its the 3x12-32 burris handgun scope and what happened was my uncle took it apart to clean and broke the reticle. will burris fix the scope? and how much could i expect to be paying for them to fix it?
burris hasnt emailed me back

any recomendation to handgun scopes that are cheap yet good enough to handle a 308win TC ENCORE? just incase the repair for the burris might be overwelming mine as well buy a new scope somewere in the $50-$150 range with a good amount of zoom unless the repairs will make the scope like it was b4 (like new)

There a pic of my gun on your other thread. A .308 win T/C encore 15". Mine is wearing a Leupold mount and rings a dual dovetail design. All of my other barrels use Leupold QR rings and bases. The scope is a Bushnell Elite 2-6x32 I have put approx 450-500 rounds through this gun and the scope has yet to fail or lose zero. Off of a bench I can shoot a 1.018 in group very consistantly with my best group 5 shot measuring .893 at 250 yards I can hit a 4" clay piegon without fail. Perhaps a little further I have not shot it over 300 yards. The two ring system seems to be working with this barrel the .308 win is a pussy cat to shoot. In a heavier recoiling round I might consider a three ring setup but not for this.

I use Weaver bases and Burris Signature Zee rings on my T/C barrels. The polymer inserts in the rings definitely hold the scopes.

Pistol scope replacement suggestion

I highly advise you that if all possible, stay with the burris scope. If you must buy another, one of the high-end simmons pistol scopes would be a good choice, btw: Simmons makes these high-end pistol scopes & sells them under the name "thompson-center"---surprise !
Burris makes all the scopes for pentax---surprise !!!

Contact j.d. Jones @ "ssk industries" for their mounting systems for handguns.

Scope repair question

Send the scope to burris for repair. Yes they will correct the problem, but as to what they might charge as related to the circumstances which caused it, i cannot say with all assurance what that would be. Don't get rid of that high-quality scope--get it fixed by burris cause they are the ones who made it !!!!!!
