I'm making the move part time (all summer and weekends during the school year) to the Lake Geneva/Elkhorn/Delavan area. I was wondering if there was a range with open bays, which is what we have at the gun club I belong to in Illinois. We're allowed to set the firing line anywhere in the bay as opposed to a preset, permanent firing line. We can also shoot as quickly as we want, as long as it's controlled. This allows us to practice double or triple taps, etc. Is this how McMiller Sports Center or Delavan Sportsman's Club is set up? If it's a good club but not set up this way that's fine. It's just what I've grown used to.

Schultz is closer to mil, Daniel bone is nearer to Hartford. there is a 600 yard range near lodi they used to have a 50 yd pistol berm. Can't think of the name of it.

I shoot at Delavan sportsman club , no rapid fire, set firing line but a very good range. Never been to mcmiller but my buddy @kmw1954 works there, that should summon him to respond.

I had a chance to go to McMiller's today. Very nice range with extremely nice people and range officers. I spent an hour at the 25 yard range shooting my Shield Plusses. I'm still busy unpacking from my move and will try to make it to Delavan Sportsman's Club in the next couple of weeks.

Nice! Did you bump into @kmw1954 up there? I'd assume he was working today. Mcmiller is a nice range, a little pricey but it's well organized and a fun place to shoot.delavan is a little less organized but cheaper. Both great places.

I didn't ask for kmw1954. It was pretty packed, with me getting the last available booth at the 25 yard range and I didn't want to bother the range officers as they were busy.

TomJ nice to hear you had a nice time. If you had come yesterday you would have seen me working the 25yd range.. As of late I have been working the 100yd on Thursdays and if it starts to pick up again I will most likely be back to the 300yd range. Will be there on Monday for the Holiday.

A friend of ours from our church who's a LEO in the area introduced me to two ranges. The first is the Elkhorn Pistol Club, which rents a range on Thursday evenings and is 5 minutes from my house. They have outdoor and indoor ranges so we shoot year round. I joined last week, as it's only $75 a year. There's also another church member who has a private range on his property, about 20 minutes from my house. They meet 2 Friday afternoons each month. I have some flexibility with my schedule as I own a business and will be able to shoot there as well. On a related note we made the decision to move here full time, so as soon as that's done I'll apply for my carry permit here.

I've shot at the Elkhorn Pistol Club the past few Thursdays. They rent the Walworth County Sheriff's Range starting at 5:30 Thursday evenings and shoot until whenever. It's $5 for non members and $75 for an annual membership. It's 5 minute from my house and Thursday evenings are my one free evening during the week, so it works out for me and I joined for the year. They allow controlled rapid fire, allowing you to practice shooting for self defense scenarios and have inside and outside ranges. The outside ranges have open bays, so you can shoot from whatever distances you'd like and can practice moving and shooting. They're taking new members, if anyone's interested or if you just want to pay the $5 to shoot for the day.

Edit to add: I forgot to mention it's $3 to shoot for members in addition to the $75 annual fee.

Please PM me more info on this as I am unaware of the Elkhorn Pistol Club. I am just down by Genoa City.
