I am ready to buy a new 9mm. I want it to be a Double-Action-Only:
I have a Glock 34 which has a better trigger than the normal Glock. But I am not really happy with the trigger. So I am considering the H&K P2000 or the Springfield XD.
Please share your experiences and in particular how you liked the trigger.
Thank you,
Regards,

I've never shot the HK, but the XD trigger is fine. However, don't rule out the SIG - they've just introduced a new trigger, and I understand it's a great improvement over their already-good triggers in older models. I don't know much about it, but you could check their Web site, or with one of their dealers.

The trigger on the XD is very similar to the Glock. My experience w/ the XD's is that triggers vary from gun to gun...some are nice, some okay & some are less than that. I don't look at the Glock or the XD as traditional DAO guns but the discription is close enough. The P2000's LEM trigger is alot closer to a traditional DAO especially since it is hammer fired. I like the LEM. It is very close to the Para LDA. The biggest difference between the 2 is that the LEM has a second strike capability that the LDA does not. It's smooth, quick & has a very steep learning curve. Of your 2 choices, I'd go w/ the HK ;)

When considering a DAO, the Springfield XD cannot be in the running because it is simply a single action pistol. Springfield calls it their "USA system", whatever that means, because they know they can't call it a DAO. Double action requires that a single pull of the trigger cause 2 actions to take place; first to fully cock the hammer/striker and second to release the sear, hence double action. If you're looking to DAs because of concerns over liabilities that may attach to a SA given the intended use of the handgun, then IMHO the XD would not cut muster. The Glock for instance is designed so that pulling on the trigger first moves the striker to its most rearward position and then release it forward to strike the firing pin; 1 PULL, 2 ACTIONS = DOUBLE ACTION. With the XD, pulling the trigger simply causes a FULLY COCKED STRIKER to be released; 1 PULL, 1 ACTION = SINGLE ACTION. With other pistols mentioned here, like Para's LDAs, pulling on the trigger first causes the hammer to fully cock and then the hammer is allowed to lunge forward and strike the firing pin; 1 PULL, 2 ACTIONS = DOUBLE ACTION. These are the facts no matter how others try to spin them.

I have a Glock 24 and with a sharpening stone I cleaned up the contact points on the connector and it smoothed the trigger up noticably. I can get 1.5"-2" off-hand groups at 25 yards if I'm very careful. The DoubleRing sights I have and the trigger work make this possible. I was shooting closer to 5" groups before those changes.

If you're not comfortable doing this yourself any gunsmith can do this "trigger job" but make sure they don't take you for a big wad of cash. It took me all of 10 minutes to do on my own once I had detail stripped the pistol.
